A harmonious blend of mostly Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon from Volpaia’s organically farmed estate vineyards in Chianti Classico and Maremma. Citto highlights the qualities of both regions in splendid fashion. Bright with classic Tuscan notes of sour cherry and wild herbs upfront. Medium bodied and sleek with radiant red fruits and a taut core of fine tannins and racy minerals. There’s plenty of ripe black cherry from that sunny Maremma Cabernet, and delicious Victoria plum and wild raspberry fruits that shine pure with no oak used for fermentation or aging. Citto’s vibrant fruit, seamless mouthfeel and silky nature belies it’s price point. Impressive now and I expect this’ll age well for another five years. A superb Tuscan find.
